But what does ‘going commando’, i.e not wearing underwear, do for a woman?
). Not wearing underwear can make a woman more vulnerable to chafing, visible staining from normal discharge or sweating and direct contact with irritating chemicals from exterior clothing
). Outerwear like denim or rough seams can cause severe chafing and urethral irritation if they rub directly against a woman’s skin
). Underwear acts as a primary absorbent layer for daily discharge, sweat and minor urinary leakage and skipping it can transfer moisture and visible stains directly onto a woman’s skirts or trousers

). Women dealing with bladder leakage are left without protection between their genitals and outerwear if they skip underwear

). That experts advise women who choose to go commando to do so in loose, breathable outer garments like cotton or linen pants to minimise friction and moisture buildup shows the importance of wearing this protective layer of clothing known as underwear.
